(B) The New York Times has a great analysis today of the famous venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers that is worth reading: A Humbled Kleiner Perkins Adjusts its Strategy. The VC world has changed enormously since the burst of the Internet bubble in 2001, with a lot of new firms exiting the business, some stars of the past not producing the same returns, some new firms entering the business (such as Union Square Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz), and obviously the rise of the accelerator (such as Y Combinator). And while many firms such as KPCB have added to information technology and life science a third investment area with clean and green technologies, not all firms have been successful in that new space.
