Professor Schiller – In Search of a Stable Electronic Currency

Bitcoin

(B) Yale Professor’s and Nobel Prize winner’s in economy Professor Schiller wrote a must-read article yesterday about Bitcoin in the New York Times: In search of a stable electronic currency. Professor Schiller strongly believes that Bitcoin has already reached a bubble stage but he is predicting that Bitcoin’s digital currency legacy should help creating “better pricing, contracting and risk management”.

Interesting to compare Professor Schiller’s views about the value of Bitcoin-related to its economic value…”the legacy of the Bitcoin experience should be that we move toward a system of stable economic units of measurement”…versus Marc Andreessen’s views in an article published earlier this year – Why Bitcoin Matters? – that stresses the value of Bitcoin-related to its technology innovation (and other transaction benefits)…Bitcoin is the first practical solution to a longstanding problem in computer science called the Byzantine Generals Problem.
