(B) This year, I did not notice a big crowd from Silicon Valley going to SXSW in Austin. SXSW is mostly about music, film, and entertainment. But with the evolution of computing technology becoming more consumer-oriented over the last 15 years, SXSW is probably a good place to eventually spot some market trends. Twitter, in its early days, got a significant boost from SXSW.
SXSW has a start-up Accelerator forum during the conference where new start-ups could compete into one of the following categories:
-
Enterprise and Smart Data Technologies
-
Entertainment and Content Technologies
-
Digital Health and Life Sciences Technologies
-
Innovative World Technologies
-
Social Technologies
-
Wearable Technologies
Following is the list of the finalists and the list of the winners among the over five hundred companies that have submitted an application to participate.
