Intermezzo – Music@Menlo Online Chamber Music Festival

(E) How do you experience art online without the intimacy, the conviviality, and the emotional connection that live performances do? My favorite summer chamber music festival, Music@Menlo, will be online this summer, from July 17th to August 8th, as announced end of June by music directors’ Wu Han and David Finckel.

The festival will include previously recorded Master Classes, Prelude Performances, and Encounter series. And, it will include some new events: Artists Up Close and Digital Artist Series. All the events will be streamed on the festival site or on the festival Facebook page.

The festival will also celebrate the release of a new recording of Franz Schubert’s masterwork, “Winterreise,” by Nikolay Borchev on baritone, and festival co-director Wu Han on piano.

Announcing “Intermezzo”, July 17–August 8!

“We are delighted to announce Intermezzo, Music@Menlo’s upcoming digital chamber music experience designed to fill the void created by the postponement of this year’s festival. “Intermezzo,” the Italian term for music appearing between larger parts of a performance, describes the virtual bridge we have curated for our listeners to cross and enjoy between now and Haydn Connections next summer.

Taking place during the originally-scheduled festival dates of July 17–August 8, Intermezzo presents the essential elements of the Music@Menlo experience: performance, education, and personal connection.

Listeners can enjoy a variety of artist interviews, live and archival performances, master classes, and more from past Music@Menlo seasons. We will be welcoming back beloved artists from many different Music@Menlo seasons to greet you as event hosts. The spectacular Young Performers and International Program artists will amaze your ears and melt your hearts. Encounter lectures and Café Conversations will broaden your musical horizons.

Great music will move us all—just as it has always been.”
