The COP 15 – The United-Nation Biodiversity Conference

(E) At the COP 15 biodiversity conference in Montreal, nearly 200 countries (without the U.S. and the Vatican) pledged to avoid mass extinction of plant and animal species, in particular by protecting at least 30% of land and seas by 2030.

I wish that they would have agreed to 40% by 2023.

This agreement is for biodiversity what was the Paris agreement for climate change. But as it is the case for the Paris agreement, it is not legally binding.
